About the guide

How Best Belly Dancer works

We are an independent editorial guide to the best belly dancers in the North West of England — not an agency. We rank the performers we rate, then send you straight to their own websites to book. Here is exactly how the rankings are decided.

The North West has a genuinely strong belly dance scene — and almost nowhere honest to compare the people in it. Best Belly Dancer exists to fix that: one clear, editorial ranking of the region’s finest performers, broken down town by town.

We make money from no one on this list. Performers cannot buy a higher position, and every “Visit website” link goes directly to the dancer — there is no booking fee and no middle-man. If we wouldn’t recommend someone to a friend planning a wedding, they are not in the guide.

The method

Four things decide every ranking

Each performer is weighed on the same four criteria, in this order of importance.

  1. 01

    We watch the work

Rankings start with performance. We look at technique, stage presence and that harder-to-define ability to read a room and lift it — assessed on real shows, footage and reputation, never on self-description.

  2. 02

    We weigh professionalism

A great performer is only worth recommending if they are reliable. We factor in communication, punctuality, presentation and the consistency of feedback from the people who book them.

  3. 03

    We map the geography

Every town ranking leads with the performer whose home city it is, then lists the others who genuinely cover that area by distance and travel. That is why the order changes from town to town.

  4. 04

    We match style to occasion

Romantic wedding, high-energy hen do, refined country-house soirée — different events call for different performers. Our notes help you pick the right fit, not just the highest-ranked name.

About the guide

Is Best Belly Dancer a booking agency?

No. Best Belly Dancer is an independent editorial guide, not an agency. We rank the performers we rate, then link you straight to each dancer’s own website so you can check availability and book with them directly. There is no booking fee and no middle-man — every "Visit website" link goes to the performer.

How do you decide the rankings?

We weigh up performance quality and technique, professionalism and reliability, range of events covered, presentation and styling, and how well each dancer fits a given area. Within each town the local home-city performer is given top billing, followed by the other professionals who reliably cover that area. You can read the full method on our How We Rank page.

Do these dancers cover my town?

Every performer in the guide covers Greater Manchester, and most travel widely across the North West. We publish a dedicated ranking for fourteen towns — including Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Preston, Bolton and Stockport — listing the dancers who genuinely cover each one. If your town is not listed yet, the Manchester ranking is the best place to start.
